I shoot raw.
I check the Fuji file converter option finepix 1.8 on my G-4 mac.The middle one.
In Photoshop 6 color settings.
I use Finepix RGB 1.8 . in the working space.
Should I leave the Grey gamma at 2.2 or switch that to 1.8 also?
It is ambiguous in the raw file converter, that is , it isnt stated to do so.

OK,
So, I can't quite remember all the technical details, but basicly these two gamam settings are there because PCs & MACs handle gamma differently.
Generally, if you're on the PC platform, you'll want to use a gamma of 2.2. The 1.8 Gamma is primarily for use in the MAC world.
Just don't lynch me, all of you extremely technical types, I know that my explanation lack technical flair, but it is accurate to the best of my knowledge.

the Fuji info disc says t use Fuji RGB 1.8 in the colr space but it doesnt say to use 1.8 in thr grey space.
Thats peculiar and thats where my questions lies(lays).
Thanks for the reply tho.

Actually, for photo editing many Mac experts use 2.2 gamma. This spreads the tonal range out over more steps than 1.8 gamma does. There are some implications you need to take into account since profiles will be based on specific gammas. But using Photoshop it's quite easy to work with a different gamma.

I knew BJ would have some words of wisdom. I switched my monitor profile to 2.2 and develop into Adobe(1998) because at some point I have to convert it to that anyway. Even my b&w images I save as RGB Adobe(1998).
