Hi,
After 2 weeks use I am getting a large ratio of "read error" messages on the LCD. The problem does not seem to occur if you pump the selector repeatedly, therefore skipping through the images.
The problem seems to occur only on 6M pixels when selecting and waiting for image to fully load,or after deleting an image, the lower resolutions are not a problem.
thanks
joe

I think everyone here will want to know more... What size, type and manufacture is the memory you are having the problem with and have you tried a different card with the same results? Are you sure the batteries are good or do you notice if this happens more when the batteries are older, or are is the problem happening throughout the battery life?
There will probably be more questions, but this is a start.

I saw this same problem a few times (like 1 out of 2000 pictures) on my 1GB Microdrive when I try to preview all my 6MP images one at a time. I never have a problem when viewing an image after a shot or if I browse through them quickly. I haven't seen this problem on smaller images. Since I don't normally view all my pictures on my camera, I don't know the extent of this problem so it is easy for me to pretend the problem does not exist.

Thanks Guys,
The memory card is a 512 mb Scan Disk Ultra. The problem has occurred throught the battery life.
From your comments Bryan I get the impression that the problem is not likely the camera?

You still haven't said if you've used any other memory cards besides the Scan Disk Ultra 512mb (San Disk is the name maybe? Never heard of Scan Disk.) If you've used another card in it without problems, then that pretty much tells me that it's the memory card that the camera doesn't like. If another card (especially a different manufacturer or size) still does it, then it could be either a problem with the camera, or another card that the camera doesn't like.
Between the info you provide, and possibly the info from the memory forum here, we should be able to rule out the camera or the card without too much more research. So, have you tried a different card?
Cheers,
Bryan

Read through the memory forum here and make some deductions on your own on which to purchase. I am using a Kingston 512mb myself and have had absolutely no problems with it the 2 weeks I've had my camera so far. I've shot about 500-600 shots 98% at the highest jpg format and highest resolution. I know Kingston is great about returns as well.

I had a couple of problems with Sandisk with by S1 a year ago when I first got the camera. Sandisk had a bad batch I think. I went with Viking...excellent and very reliable with the S1 and S2.
