I had no idea that this posting would spark this manual longing. It has been a wild year for me digitally. I sold my leica M6 and (having never owned anything with autofocus even) bought the S2 and a Mac G4. In blindly with both feet. I don't regret that decision for a moment. The knowledge I have gained has made me actually employable in this awful market, and made me grow through the immediacy of the digital LCD. Still I miss something. It isn't the darkroom or loading sheet film or any of that related production. It is how it felt to make a photograph with something as quiet as my leica, or as slow as my 4x5, or as easy as my holga ( they were escapes from my photography without leaving photography). I know new quirks will soon fill my bag of tricks, but until they do, I will just keep shooting.
