I took some shots with this lens at a basketball game this afternoon. Nice sharp lens, fast focus. I'm not the best "moving
target" photographer, but some of the shots didn't turn out too bad. I've posted them in a slide show on the following website if anyone is interested in seeing them...

Hi Connie,
Nice shots. I would love to see some shots that exhibit this lens' world famous bokeh too... I hear it is amazing!

Roel,
I asked about the term bokeh on another thread recently and believe I understand it, but am not sure how to demonstrate it in a shot. Give me a brief lesson on what I would do, and I'll try to take some shots for you. I just got the lens on Thursday afternoon...today was the first time I'd had an opportunity to use it.

Hi Connie,
"Bokeh" refers to how a lens renders the out of focus elements. Here is a decent explanation of it:

The Nikon 85/1.4 apparently has the nicest bokeh of all Nikon lenses.
I would try and shoot a portrait with the backround elements out of focus. Here are some examples from the 70-200 VR lens:

Just curious to see what it looks like from the 85/1.4....

Ah, I understand now. I shall shoot away, Roel, and do my best to demonstrate. Stay tuned.

You can also see good Bokah with the dragon fly pic here:

Or look at my hummingbird pictures from the 80-200 Nikkor in the lens test section too. The out of focus background is what you're looking at...

Swampy, I remember that photograph...it was one of the first I saw when I registered on this board and I remember what an amazing shot I thought it was then. It's still a great shot.
