Anyone using a wireless network with their printer?
I'm going wireless with my notebook and desktop pc's.
Later, I would like to add the printers to this system.
Is it as easy as adding a wireless "card" to the printer?
I went with D-Link, by the way.
Thank you for your time,
Scott

The g and a standards should work fairly well at 54mb. I would stay away from b though, it would be really slow. I've done a few setups with it with b, but not with g or a yet as we just run cables and use 100mb. :)

Swampy,
If I connect a card (or whatever) to the printer, will it automatically integrate with my network?
Or is there more to it than that?
(By the way, I'm going with "g")
Thanks,
Dieselfuel

There are many things regarding the wireless settings that may or may not need to be done based on your wireless network configuration. You will need the wireless piece for the printer and a wireless access point of some sort for this to work.
Network names need to be the same, encryption key, etc. G is G (and backwards compatible with B), B is B, A is A. As long as you're talking the same speeds together, you shouldn't have a problem.

CompUSA set up my wireless net work ("g") and it works great! No problems.
I asked the gentleman what he thought about setting up my 4 printers to my 2 computer with a wireless system.
He said : "To be honest, I wouldn't bother. They don't work that great. I would just use on computer to dedicate the printers to."
So, for now, I'm not going to worry about a wireless set-up for my printers.
SWAMPY: Hey I see you use a new photo. Looks like you've been working out a bit! :tupon:
Thanks for your insights,

I personally use an Apple Airport network , which was very easy to set up myself. My Powerbook and my wife's iBook connect wirelessly to the PowerMac G4 upstairs, and all 3 Epson printers, also upstairs, are plugged (wired) into the PowerMac. Also works great when my son drops by with his newer PowerBook with 802.11g.
Sending a 100MB panorama to the printer takes a couple of minutes. I'm unsure how long it might take if the printer were connected to the network only by wireless. I haven't done a good job of keeping up with what printers offer wireless capability. But would be interested in knowing what you end up with, and how well it works.
