View Full Version : Replacement S2 was REFURBISHED

So I was all ready to do battle again, sending my second S2 body back hopefully to be replaced with one of those elusive working S2's only to discover that my first malfunctioning S2 was replaced with a refurbished S2 and not a new one with a one year warranty... It said nothing of this on the returned slip of course, only 'replaced' with a new serial number. On the back, in faint fine print it said there was a 6 month warranty which I unfortunately did not find until it was too late. I realize that I should not have assumed that I had a full year warranty with my 'new' replacement S2, but does anyone else think that it was sneaky (not to mention wrong) for Fuji to send me a refurbished back to replace mine?? Do I have any ground to stand on as far as getting them to fix this one even though the 6 month warranty expired in November? I would love to just sell the damn thing but I don't feel right selling a camera I know has issues so I feel very stuck.

Kodak did the same thing to me, except the referb only had a 90 day warranty.

And what could you do? Anything?

I didn't give it a second thought. That was more then I had left on the original warranty. If I had 11 mo. left and now only had 90 days that would be a different story.
As far as the camera, what's the difference if you get someone elses repaired camera or your own repaired camera back. Purportedly they go through the same quality control checks as a new one.

Because with the S2's it seems that a lot of the problem ones come from older batches and since my first one was one of those I was hoping to get a new one with no problems - unfortunately what I got was another one of the older models that had supposedly been 'refurbished' but still exhibits the same issues as my first problematic S2. I stupidly assumed that they had replaced it with a new camera that would carry another one year warranty - and just about the time I built up enough energy (and ammo) to do battle again I discovered the warranty had expired. So, I am stuck.

I would still make an effort with Fuji to repair it, ESPECIALLY if the replacement is now exhibiting the same problem (I didn't read anything where you described your problem). The more you complain and the more people you call, the more likely you'll get some satisfaction.
Good luck.
