I've been working with TP6 Pro and the 2 service packs. So far, my S2 RAW images are showing up just like they should!

I love ThumbsPlus, been using it for years.
Although I am only at V4.1, might be time to upgrade,
I was looking at getting ACDsee V6 plus pack, so much choice,
so little time to use everything, I've bought more software than I have time to use :troutsmac
anyone want 3dStudio Max V2 (dongles and all)
...haha, just kidding (the license doesn't allow it's resale, cost me a fortune)

I'm on the beta test group for ThumbsPlus which includes the support for RAW support, including S2 RAF files. Yes, it 'supports' RAF files, however, I don't think I'll be using TP+ to do the RAW conversion, as I use PhotoShop CS for that.
In TP+ you can set viewing options for the RAF files - a 'quick' view which displays the 1440 by 960 embedded jpg file... or the display of the full RAF file. With the full file, you then have access to the various 'filters' build-in to TP+ - however, not nearly the flexibility/fine tuning provided by other conversion programs (EX, CS, Qimage, etc)....output is TIFF. (although, you can change the 'color depth' from 48 bit to 24 bitRGB and then save as JPG - I have more testing to do on this!) Even if you select the 'quick' display, the full EXIF information is available. Can also set up batch processes against the RAF files..I haven't tested that yet.
ThumbsPlus is strong on organizing (cataloging, searching, etc) and that's what I'll be using it for...not for converting RAF files unless specific situations warrant it.

You don't need the latest Thumbs to see the embedded jpegs. Just tell thumbs the .raf file type equals jpeg and voila!
I've been using Thumbs 5 with .raf thumbnails for over a year.

right ....does version 5 show the EXIF info? version 6 with the RAW plugin supports various 'raw' file types .. including S2 RAF ... as I mentioned previously, you will be able to open the full RAF file, however, I'm not sure what value this other than perhaps some batch functions.

Neat. Can you give me a "dick and jane" explanation on how to set that up? Everything I have tried does not even show RAF exists on the drive.
Thanks.

This should do it .....
OPTIONS
WHICH FILES
select (check) BY MASK
a popup box will be displayed:
ENTER MASK FOR FILE DISPLAY
put an * in there - will display all file types .... note that when you click on the thumbnail for the RAF file that is displayed, what will by displayed is the 1440 by 960 embedded JPG.

Well, once again this forum has pulled me out of the murk into the light of day. Thanks, Bill, for showing me how to get thumbnails of my RAF files in TP version 5. And yes, it does recognize the EXIF data that you can display with "file/properties/info" .

Thanks Bill, I'll give it a try for a comparison.
