Cleaning house and ran across this three year old CP950 image. I remember working on it for hours trying to make a silk purse from that sow's ear. This is as far as I could go. If only I had had my S2 then......guess I could always hike up and retake it. <g>
As always, any and all comments appreciated.

Don't be shy. I don't think this is a very good image either. It's a classic situation of wanting to fall in love with a failed image. Your thoughts???

Mike, I think we can all relate to that, but don't be so harsh on this one,
I think it still stands tall and firm in its own right, like the tree which attracted you initially.
It has a very intangible but unique quality

Serge & Bryan,
Thanks for the input. Exactly my thoughts, that's why I put it up. I was hoping for a fundamental discussion concerning the images we take and want to love but in the final anlysis fail somehow.
This one struck me for the contrast between light and dark snarled limbs and there did seem to be something provacative and descriptive beyond documentation. I must admit that the original TIF is cleaner but nonetheless it's a close but no cigar type of image. Technically flawed at best.
Thanks again.

Mike,
I like the tree, I like the contrast but I think it's the surrounding that hurts it. It's all in focus, the lighting is similar so your eyes never rest in the frame but run around trying to see everything. You might want to try a little vingette and/or blur to the area around the tree and see if it works better
I would still say HIKE! out there and see what all you can get again!

Hike it is. This image was pre DSLR and good glass.
Thanks Linda.

I can certainly relate. I think I'm working on a sow's ear right now. I just don't have the sense to abandon it just yet.
