Anyone had a problem with the Tamron 28-105 F2.8. I routinely get error "F- -". Also at F5.6 and wider the images go soft. The lens seems very heavy for the body and I wonder if the lens is pulling away from the contacts.

Yes, I sent my s1 into repairs a few times. I kept trying to explain the problem that the camera would disconnect and show the F on display at times that were very bad (such as bride walking down the aisle) I found if I rotate the lens as if I was removing the lense and restart it would reconnect but every once in a while....
Service kept sending it back saying check camera ok.... And I kept telling them they had to look at the mount but didn't matter. Tallyns camera finally told me they would talk to them and I got the ok for a new body. I have also had some very soft results sometimes and othertimes very sharp. Still not sure what causes this. If it is shooting at 5.6 or less - I have already started shooting at f11 to be sure.. Still, 5.6 or 8 should be adequate but something isn't right and I can't figure it out. I am starting to think that the problems occur at the longer end of zoom. Maybe this with f stop is awful. I now also just try to stay in the mid zoom range and it has been working so far. I really like my S2 it hasn't done the same thing with the lense mount as the S1. Hope this helps some, jtm

Err,
I got that message when I mounted a new Sigma lens to my S2, but the same lens worked perfect on my F100. I had to twist the lens a bit further in the mount than it wanted in order for it to work on the S2. Take a few shots, and the lens would loosen up, and give the Err warning.
I think your Err message could have everything to do with a not-quite-connected lens.
Obviously, the Sigma lens that gave my S2 trouble must have been a freak, or my S2 is a freak, because there are lots of people out there using that lens on S2s without problems.

I get the same Err message with my Tamron 24-135 if I don't twist it on extra tight. It seems to only have this problem when the camera, lens, air temps are cold though. When all of the equipment is indoors at room temp or above I don't have any problems.

It is displayed on the top LCD, the film portion of the camera.
