What is your opinon...?send your input...!...

and adapt to it like I have and not worry about carrying a battery pack on your belt. I have a Quantum QB1+ and cable (MD4?) which works fine for my s2. But since I adapted the MB16, I have not touch the QB1.

Here the MB16 after minor sanding of the edges and corners:

Made from the MB16 terminal protective cap that came w/ it. I cut it out and sand them down for fitting. Some people don't use electrical tape instead since it's easier to do. But like mine better since I know it will not leave any residue like the like would when it gets old.

For the viewing audience, please describe what you have created. What is a MB16? What is if normally used for, what do you do with it, where do you put it. Do you have a picture of it on your camera (shoot in the mirror)? Do any Really Right Stuff plates fit the bottom of the MB16? Is it a good fit, does it wobble, is it sturdy enough to mount on a tripod? What does it cost? Did it ruin anything? Does the internal flash work still? What happens when you use AC Power? Does it replace all the batteries, or just the CR123s?

Curious minds want to know!

MB16 is an underground militant organization...

Actually it's the battery adapter/grip for the N80/F80 designed to enable you to replace the CR123 with AA size lithium batteries (or alkaline, I suppose) and provide a vertical grip to the camera. This mechanical adaptation described above is required for use with S2 because of a mechanical interference between the MB16 and the S2 body.

My question is, what does it really buy you to use MB16 with S2? There are now eight AA batteries to be changed! I guess if you wanted not to use 123s, you could just leave the CR123 out and put the extra four AA in a spare tray and forget the MB16.

Regards,

Matt.

- No more dual battery systems, strictly NiMH AA now
- Allow me to use internal flash (although don't use it very often anymore, but available when needed). Whereas, if I take out the CR123's I will not be able to use the internal flash.
- Powerlife is longer than CR123's.
- Some thinks it adds additional gripping, which is does, for people w/ big hands.
- Yes, it is stable hand-held or on tripods, even w/ my heaviest lens like Nik 80-200 f/2.8 or 17-35 f/2.8.

- Drawback is added weight but I like the look of it.
- Cost of the MB16 is about $60-$70. If you don't think BM16 is for you, that money can buy you whole lot of CR123's if you buy then in bulk.
- And last but not least, since I am not much of a photographer (yet), looking like a professional is important to me. Fool some of the people some of the time--ladies will be less reluct of you taking a picture of them :)

I don't have mirrors at home and haven't figure out how the self imer function works :-) So, whoever needs to see what it looks like installed in the camera, please send me his/her S2 so I can take an shot of my S2+MB16 :)

Hope that helps,

I decide put more load on my belt (or on my hip) not on camera...
no AAA neither 123...my next modify is Turbo Quantum to power
S2 and external SB....28,80...(quantum has split cable for camera
and "Q" flash).
Very good idea to use MB16....two metal prongs inside S2 ...123 is SW to let the camera know no 123...in battery compartment...
use strong tape to close it...
$70 for MB16= 10 pcs 123...!!!
:)
How long 10 pcs 123 last....?
Only one thing cary a pocket full AA(we used to cary a lot...FILM...
:p now a lot BAT..... )
