Looks like Shawn finally got through to someone who knew what they were doing and they have a backup of the database to around a week ago! He's putting it up for me to grab tonight, so I'll probably start downloading it tomorrow and get working on getting it all back in! WHooooo!

When the "new" old database is back, will we regain our rankings toward senior membership -- not a big thing, just curious.

And another BIG thank you to Swampy for bailing us out (get it, Swampy "bailing"?? oh well). I, for one, am more than willing to pay a membership fee to help keep the site afloat.

I almost forgot -- what is the derivation of the Swamp (the site and the man)?

Where the Swamp came from. Hmm. I grew up with a finished garage. Model house, the office was in that garage and used for selling all the houses in that tract. I used to have so much equipment laying around, plus a full bar, plus MASH was a good series on TV, people would just call that room "The Swamp". So it stuck. Well, who would be the owner of The Swamp? Well The Swampman of course. Well, women started calling me Swampy, and everyone just started calling me that. The 101 at the end of my Swampy that most of you are familiar with comes from me teaching MANY people (many times the hardway), many different things, and I still do to this day, mostly without asking a thing from anyone. I'm a lucky person. I'm not REALLY rich (yet), but I know there's far worse places to be that I'm not. I'm just a crazy guy that has fun helping people when I can, and so it goes. Here I am again.

Now, enough applause (save it for my photos please - if they deserve it anyway - shut up Brian). Get to posting information and asking questions and posting your work to show off to everyone.

I don't know what's going to happen to your post counts or what's going to happen with the old database. Hell, we may go back to the old database and lose everything we have done here now, or we may not use the old database at all, or we may combine this new one (over 300 posts in what, 36 hours?!?! :rockon: ) with the old one (which is what I hope to accomplish).

Been working with CT a little with the database, but he's kinda busy, wants to help, but, I understand. He seems to think that it may be a bit of trouble to match up the posts with the original users between the two databases. Anyway, the fate of the databases has yet to be decided and I won't make any serious decisions if I can't get both of these together all into one, without asking everyone here first.

Once the old posts are loaded back up into the database Bryan will be able to direct vBulletin to recount everyone's posts. It's just a simple click of the mouse. :D

Update. My buddy is coming by tonight to help out with the mail situation for sure and will take a look at the database with me to see what path we're going to choose.

Should have done this a long time ago. I turned off Email options, so you won't be seeing that error upon the screen for a few hours at least. Again, we should have mail notifications up tonight.
