Problems with deep shadows

I've been having a "noise" problem with the files containing deep shadows. It shows a pattern of lines instead of clean black. Can anybody help?

I think the pattern effect is a function of Fuji's CCD sensor design. I only notice this at higher ISO settings, say 800 and 1600. If you sharpen too much the lines are amplified. Normally, after the images is sized down or printed the lines aren't noticable (from my experience anyway). I've never had a shot ruined due to them anyway. :)
