I have found a bug in the way the camera works in that it sometines leaves the LCD panel on the top with info on it even when camera is switched off.
If you remove the main (AA) battery tray this removes the display content so there must be some residual power keeping the LCD alive after switch off.

My S2 did that once soon after I got it, but it hasn't done it since. Lately I've been getting several flashing "F---" codes when I turn the camera on. I have to remove and reattach the lens to fix the problem. It seems to only happen when the camera is cold. It acts like the lens contacts aren't clean or something. ?????

Yesterday evening I switched the camera of and in the Top Display it still showed me the "Custom" Sign and the battery symbol underneath. I switched it on and off and it went away.
Maybe it's not a bug but a feature ;)

I have not seen my S2 do this, but my N-80's top panel appears to be on all the time - showing # exposures, but that is a different story...

Shawn,
The F--- thing is usual when the aperture is not at min setting or locked to min.
Happens on my D1X occasionally.
Check the lenses are all set with the aperture ring locked to the min setting..
One tip, if you want to clean the contacts use an erazer and gently rub the contacts.
Make sure that no small erazer bits fall into lens.

I see evidence of power use and my CR123's don't last too long so I remove my CR123 batteries after use. After recently adopting the MB-16, removing the batteries require little effort.

I get this residual display after power is turned off occassionally.
As long as the camera isn't smoking, I'm not worried. :)
