Can someone help with the fact that everytime i take a picture in whatever mode i get an ERR (Non blinkinking) in the top screen.
So far the photo has downloaded without problem and prints etc. OK. I have changed Cards, batteries (both sets) and lenses, Cleaned as far as possible, but it still returns on virtually evey occassion. any Ideas? Thanks in advance to you really knowledgeable people.

I hope someone replys to your message. I too had the same problem and sent it in for repairs. It's been 3 weeks and still waiting.

Lightwork,

Apologies if you've already done what I've written below. It's the first steps to getting the camera and lens into known states where you can start to test...

The first thing to do is to return the camera to default settings:
rotate the exposure mode dial to CSM and hold down the two 'green dot' buttons for at least 2 seconds.

Set the camera controls to basic settings:
Set focus to Single-AF mode ( S ) auto-focus.
Set the exposure mode to Program.
Set metering system to Matrix.

If the lens has a locking switch for maximum aperture, make sure it is set to lock.

Make sure you have two good sets of batteries.

Now try some shots. Does the camera still have problems ?

If you have more than one lens, try different lens. Does the problem exist with all lenses ?

The S2 manual has very few tips about the 'Err' message - normally battery low or 'malfunction detected' !! If you do a search on this forum you'll find other people have had a similar problem and sometimes what the cause was ( one was intermittent coupling between lens and camera ).

Otherwise, if you conclude that the camera is faulty, then it's a case of send it in for repair.

Best of luck !

Keith.

Thanks Keith, I have tried everything two or three times now and still no change with ERR showing up on 95% 0f shots but I shot over 1,000 pictures this weekend at a community fair and the vast majority were ok so i can't fathom it. i suppose it's back to the jolly green giant ! and just 12 days out of guarentee!

Ah - that'll be the cunning, micro-miniaturised "warranty plus one day" timer built into many consumer products. Programmable to emulate a random fault when triggered... !

That's a definite funny/strange problem - if the pics are OK then what's the camera complaining about.

I guess this is where you find out what the true quality of service is from your supplier / Fuji.

Let us know how you get on !

Keith.

today, every time i took a picture I would get the ERR thing, but the camera would not write to the card. The battery indicator said full. I tried to remove the CR123s, and the camera would not run, it would flicker. I finally changed the AAs and now it works! Any idea why this happened.

I accidently ran in to a page on fujifilm.com concerning a similar problem.
If you go to 'professional/cameras' and click on the s2, there is a link called anouncements. One of the anouncements is a service anouncement concerning s2's that are giving this 'err' message. Maybe its the same problem.

Good luck
