A weird thing this.. Ive moved over from XP/Vista to a Mac.

I store my Nef files on an external hard drive.. I re-loaded Capture NX then launched it, no problems so far, however when I attempted to open a small thumbnail from the desktop, Capture opens straight away but the picture window remained blank white! Capture's open but not displaying the image

Any idea's as to whats happening?

You are not getting a response because you posted this in the wrong forum, this is the Fuji S2 Pro forum and Capture NX doesn't support Fuji cameras. Consider joining Nikonians and posting your question there, they have a large community of Capture NX users; many on the Mac.

Steve,

I have no idea. I don't use Capture and I don't understand XP. If Capture generates it's own thumbnails - and keeps them in a separate file, perhaps you need to reimport the files into Capture in order to generate new thumbnails. I really don't know - it's just a guess.

Welcome to the forums Bill!

This forum started in the summer of 2002, when the Fuji S2 Pro was just starting to get to the USA. The Fuji DSLRs are based on Nikon camera bodies, hence the reference to the "F-Mount" in the forum name. Probably 90% of the members here have owned an S2, and many still own 'em., however, a large portion of the members have since sold or retired their S2s and moved on to the Fuji S3 or S5. Also, there are many members here that have switched entirely to Canon or Nikon, and a few who have gone back and forth between them. There are also active Kodak DSLR users. Some photographers here have Canon, Nikon, Fuji AND Kodak DSLRs in their camera bags (maybe not all at once!). Many people no longer have Fuji cameras at all, but they are still active members in our nice little community.

In short, everyone is welcome regardless of the brand name on their camera.

Hi Tom,

Its an odd thing.. Some nef files will open although it then says its updating the image and the silly beach ball curser takes over.. Of course then I have to "force quit" the program..

I suspect it has something to do with the exporting of hard drives over from XP.. Theres some compatabillity thing going on somehere I'm sure of that..

Thanks Tom

Steve, on occasion you should repair the disk permissions. Use Disk Utility (Applications > Utilites > Disk Utility) to repair them. In older OS X systems, it only took a few minutes to run its course. With OS 10.5 (Leopard) it can take hours - making it an overnight project. I don't know how long it takes with 10.6 (Snow Leopard). I usually run this program after installing major software, or at the third sign of anything odd. It has been suggested to do it before installing software - but I never do.

Do NOT use TechTool, DiskWarrior, or other 3rd party diagnostic & repair programs until you are absolutely sure they are made to work with Snow Leopard. Using out-of-date software to fix state-of-the-art software can mess it up.

Hi Tom,

I think I've sorted it now... I managed to download the latest version 2.2.4 which appears to be the update for Snow Leapard 10.6.. Anyway it's working ok now.. Man I can't believe how fast it is...

Thanks for all your help Tom, much appreciated mate
