View Full Version : PS Broswer won't read S2 files

I am Mac based 10.2.6.

The Jpeg files straight out of the S2 are designated as Photoshop files, I double click on them and PS opens them. I use the open menu and I can open them fine.

The only time PS won't read the files is when I use the Browser. It sits there, reading the directory forever and nothing comes up.

Is there something in the metadata that prevents PS from reading these files? Once I open these and re-save them then PS can read them fine...

Thanks

Ian,

Just a thought. I'm also using PS and OS X and don't have a Browser problem. However, you have to hit the F5 key to update the Browser for any recent additions. If you don't, the Browser doesn't "know" the images are there. Give it a try.

Just an idea....

I hope you are not trying to read or browse the files directly on the memory card. Photoshop tries to make thumbnails and may have to write to the file itself (whereever that file is), which would entail having something other than the S2 writing to your card. Beside being slow, possibly impossibly slow, it can interfere with the card formatting and introduce format and file errors.

Always copy the files from the memory card to your computer hard drive before opening them, never edit or delete files on the memory card while in the computer, and always format your card ONLY in the camera.

I rarely delete files in the S2, preferring to Format the whole card everytime I put it in the camera. I never delete, format, or edit anything on the card from the computer.

If this has nothing to do with the original problem of the PS browser not seeing files, I am at a loss to suggest anything.

Nope these files aren't off the card they are on the HD.

An aside: I found out about those invisible the browser creates, after I transfered a renamed collection of images to my FlashTrax storage device. They show up within the FlashTrax OS as the ".Thefilename_jpg".

The browser seems to just sit there with the message "Getting directory file list". It's ONLY S2 files that are the problem and on both my TI laptop and my G$ desktop. Is there something I am setting wrong within the camera thaht I should look at?
