I sold my S2 a few years ago in perfect working order. Recently I heard that the sensor had gone black. I was concerned for the buyer but told him to send it to Fuji. The bad news was they couldnt fix it. The good news they sent him a new S5 to replace it.
Well done to Fuji.

An amazingly good gesture ! I'll have to remember that if mine fails (it's in the range of affected S2's ).
Does that mean there's unsold stock of S5's then ?? :)
Keith.

Same happened to me in May - got 6 year old S2 out of bag as I wanted to cameras for a shoot and got Black photos!
Sent it back to Fuji and had an S5 back inside a week - very impressed.
Now if only I can find someone with the latest version of Hyper-utility that they don't want, as that's the only downside to the change.

Well.....that stacks it! I sent my broken S2 to the UK in my Mum's carry on luggage. I had pre booked it for repair on the FujiFilm website. She got home today with my brand new S5. It's charged up and ready to go with me tomorrow. :righton:
So to anyone with a dead Super CCD, if your camera falls into the serial number range of affected cameras, send it to Europe.
It's official. There are no more parts for them and the U.S. has washed their hands of it.
Europe must have stricter consumer law.

That's great news! The S5 is a big step up from the S2.

Glad they came through for you - S2 to S5 is a sudden change, but I'm still loving it!
