I am disappointed to already find dust on my CCD (well actually Igor pointed it out), Even though the lens has not been off the camera since I bought it.

Anyway I now need and AC adaptor, swabs etc. Can anyone recommend a cheaper UK source for these items than Fujifilm themselves, who are going to charge me £80+

Also can you recomend a source/type for a blower? All the manual ones I have seen seem to have a brush on....

Thanks

I don't think you'll find another source, not in England anyway, they are expensive but quick , normally next day or two delivery, you'll also have to use the fluid and swabs, too many problems using anything else.
The blower brush ,all the brushes i've seen just pull off , then just blow ,but DON'T let it touch the CCD glass. follow the instuctions in the manual , or the paper with the cleaning kit, and you'll be O.K.

Gazza, I too would advise Fuji supplies, amazingly when I ordered them from the fuji.co.uk website they arrived almost instantly (next day) like the shop keeper in Mr Ben (70's childrens TV show for non-UK readers).

However I'd reccomend a Giotto blower, I got one from the following website

http://www.hiltonphoto.co.uk/products/details/187.html

This shop is based in Hull (about 40 miles down the road from me). I didn't get this one, when I phoned it was out of stock so I got it's half pint brother for about 4 quid and it's mint, it's exactly the same as the one in the image but a bit smaller but they don't mention the smaller one on the website.

I tried a Turkey Baster at first as a large blower but as well as finding it embarrasing to buy in a supermarket I found that it put more dust on the CCD than it took off. I guess this is because the blower hole is too large and sucks in dust as well as air when pumping the bulb. The Rocket Blower is great it's like syringe with a giant bulb.

Hope this helps

Oh aye Gary, forget to mention on the last post, I had dust on my CCD from brand new, I posted this as a message thread previously, but I presume now that this may be a common issue so don't worry about it unless your not brave enough to clean your own CCD. I'm not, brave that is, I'm a real chicken when it comes to cleaning the CCD.

Right I'm off to be brave, I'm of to see the wizard...bye.

They are also the bulb syrange that you use on a baby's nose and throat. However I never got anything to come off with blowing. I bought the Sensor Swabs and use grain alcohol (Everclear in the US) that I buy in a liquor store as the liquid. It all takes more nerve than skill, but you do need to follow the directions to the letter.
