Warning - this shot isn't sharp! Sharpness worshippers avert your eyes.

Actually I quite like this one; movement, emotion and yes it's a lens baby shot. I have plenty of tack sharp, full depth of field shots of flowers that while technically perfect don't move me as much as this.

What can I say.... love it !! - for the reasons you mention, and I also like creating abstract images of flowers.

I will also stand up and declare myself to be a Lensbaby user :)

Did you use a macro attachment for this shot ?? - I tried to get hold of the Wide-angle/macro accessory but it went out of production so I'm now considering what to get instead. I use my Tamron SP90 for a lot of flower shots... I'm guessing the highest power macro lens combo will get me close to 1:1.

Keith.

Thanks Keith! I have a 2.0 and this was with the 4x Macro lens at f2. You are right the 10x is pretty much 1:1.

I am currently looking at a Lensbaby Composer, but since I am unsure of whether or not I will stay with Nikon or go to Canon, I am not yet in the mood to buy.

And while I do own a Nikon 105 2.8 VR macro lens ... probably the sharpest lens I own, I love the abstract, fuzzy nature of the "Baby".

Cheers,
Adrian

Adrian - I also like this one very much. The 'window' to the green background really draws the eye, and I like the soft feeling of the image. Yes, I've produced my share of sharp flower shots - looks like it is time to try to get a bit 'artsy' with them.
Regards,
Bill

Very nice.

Typical crisp, technically perfect, documentation shots of flowers bore me. Those photos usually only demonstrate perfect technical and flower-finding skill, but have no emotion.

Thanks Bill, Tom. Glad you like this. I have always shot flowers, I never tire of them, but I do prefer the abstract and the extreme closeup. I literally grew up in a greenhouse (family business) and although I don't have a lot of time for gardening I enjoy walking through gardens wherever they may be.
