Wow ...

To have a problem and dread the repair saga is normal ...

With Fuji repair it wasn't the least bit difficult....

My S2 had sharpness issues I felt was the camera and not me:

They got loaner forms out quickly
Got my camera in and turned around incredibly fast (I FedExed in, they FedExed Next Day back)
Were not the least bit short or rude, they actually cared and showed pride in what they do
Communicated clearly and often

And I have shot off several shots this evening after receiving it back today and the CCD adjustment, focus adjustment, and calibration to new specs fixed my softness issue.

Really was the best experience of having something checked and repaired I have ever had. Makes the decision to go Fuji so much better and certainly makes me want to step to plate for the next body too after receiving that kind of service!

Only cost to me was FedEx to them. BTW, my unit was a Canadian unit from Galaxy Photo and they didn't say a thing about it being non USA model.

I hope all of your repairs/adjustments go as well as mine!

Be nervous, be very nervous.

Edison does a wonderful job turning around repairs (you'll need them a lot). However, they've yet to make my camera take a sharp image. That's like a bike without wheels.

Jay,

Sorry to hear you haven't had that good an experience. I can't say I've ever had an exceptionally good experience in getting something repaired in my 37 years except for my S2. Service was top rate and the only reason I sent mine in was because of too soft of images as well. I thought I was going to go nuts every time I had to apply the USM so much and then sometimes not with part of the images in focus and some that weren't. They sent mine back saying they adjusted the CCD and there was a huge improvement in my images.

I know it's frustrating as heck, I wish you the best of luck getting taken care of!

BTW, I don't have the slightest affiliation with any of the folks there; this was just a praise for getting taken care of so well, I hope you end up with that satisfaction as well.

Take care,

The tech does excelent work. The place is called Pho-Tech and it is in Hesston, Kansas. He does mostly mail order repair from all over the country. I can talk to the guy and even watch him make small emergency repairs. He is only starting to repair digital SLR's for Nikon. He is a certified Nikon Tech and does a lot of warrenty work for them. He knows all of our Hasselblads and Nikon lenses and he keeps them in top condition. His turn around time is about a month due to his backlog but we have several cameras then this is usually not a problem. We have never had an S2 go bad.

It's frustrating that a brand new camera had to be fixed ..

Keep you posted

Don't misunderstand me. On both occasions I got my camera back from Edison on (3) days.

But what good is it? It's an inherent design flash in the camera that does not allow you to take a sharp picture. It's been publically acknowledged by Fuji in writing. Fuji advises you to use USM if you want sharp pictures.

My friend the difference between USM and taking a sharp picture right out of the camera is NIGHT and DAY.

Fuji should not have targeted pro's until they could offer a camera that could product sharp images.
