I know there will be many responses telling me to search the forums and suggested solutions but please humor me with a test first and let me know your results. Fuji insists the problem does not exist. The issue is when focusing at wide angle the background is in focus instead of the person.

I'll start by outlining our test procedures and requesting that you simulate it as close as possible.

Scenario #1 (in studio)
- background was a US flag mounted on a wall
- subject (person) 3 feet from background
- camera 8 feet in front of subject
- 3 different S2's each tested with 3 different Nikon lenses
- 24-120 D
- 24-120 VR
- 24-85 G
- spot and matrix metering tested
- zoom in and focus on the subjects nose (subject in focus)
- zoom out and focus on subjects nose (background in focus)

Scenario #2 (outdoors sunny early afternoon)
- the only difference was that we tested outdoor and the background was a brick wall.

Thanks in advance,
Israel

It appears there will be no takers this time around. I get the impression I'm the only person using an S2.

Israel.
You say ''humour me'' but this is a major project for just about everyone here.
A U.S . flag
3 different S2'S
And then the 3 lenses .
You're proberbly the only member who has the specific items to do this test .
You can't be surprised at the response . It would take me all year just to collect the equipment you require.
Sorry Israel , i always help out if i can , but not this time.
One of the pro's might just have them and maybe you'll get some help in time. best of luck in this.

Brian,

Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to do so. It is never my intention to offend anyone so if I have done so please accept my apology.

In my original message I requested that S2 owners simulate as close as possible. I intended that statement very loosely. For example, if you only have one camera and one lens, that should work fine. The point behind the US flag is to let the camera have something to focus on instead of a blank wall.

I guess I should have mentioned that 1 of the cameras used in my test was mine and the other 2 belonged to the other photographer.

A side note, I also forwarded my message to Fuji support to be fair. To date I have not received any reply. If the problem is user error than I'll be happy to post a message to that effect.

Thanks again for taking the time to read and reply to my messages,

Israel

No offence taken Israel, it's just to complicated for most of us even loosly, if it's not close to your own tests , it's not a lot of help to you . Still hope you get some help here though , most of us are obliging,

Brian

This may be a stupid question and I don't mean to offend but, are you using the center focusing section or one of the side sections when you had this problem?

We used the center sensor on all cameras tested. This is, however, no longer an issue since I have switched brands.

Thanks,
Israel
