As anybody experienced rapid depletion of their AA batteries when using the S2 pro? I use the battery add-on pack instead of the Li-Ion. Never had a problem before but recently the batteries last maybe 20 shots and then I get low battery warnings. Their brand new, freshly charged. The only thing I can think of is that I am now using a VR lens but 20 shots still seams on the low side.

could be a couple of problems ...
The cold will affect battery performance drastically - in a negative way. And TO isn't blessed with tropical sunshine at the moment;) .
One or more bad batteries could be another common reason. Try a different set of batteries. I gather you use rechargeable ones and not alkalines? Have you checked your charger? I had once accidentally set my charger to charging two instead of four batteries.
What is your setup? I gather you use one of these vertical grip add-ons, judging by your description. Have tried the regular AA tray without the add-on grip or the Li-Ion for a test? I used my S2 all the time with nothing but a few decent sets of rechargeable AA's in the tray. Never had a problem that way; BUT, I experienced problems similar to yours with a external set of batteries ("Digipower" something; my mind is vague on the particulars, it's been too long ago).

I like the idea of trying the Li-Ion and I'll give that a try tonight. I was using new rechargeable batteries and a new charger even but maybe it is the connection of the vertical grip. It was indeed cold where I was shooting and I was thinking about that but I have seen similar problems with indoor shootings recently.
Thanks again!
