Do any of you know where I can get a hood for my monitor? I am forced to work in a bright room and the light from the room is hurting my results.
Thanks,
Tim

I have an extra one from a LaCie monitor. It fits the LaCie Electron22Blue monitors. It should fit any monitor up to 19.5" wide. It is made of some sort of vinyl over cardboard, dark blue outside, black inside. I use one on my remaining LaCie CRT.
If you're interested, send a PM.

Thanks for your reply.
Actually my use for a hood has to do with my part time job. I work one day a week as assistant prof of dentistry at U of Iowa dental school.
The school has gone to digital radiography this year and we are not satisfied with our ability to evaluate the images on the 19" monitors in the bright light of the operatories. If we use hoods, we will need about seventy-five of them for the family dentistry clinic thus we need to find someone that makes the hoods.
Any ideas?

Two ideas:
Make them out of black foam board [GatorBoard or FoamCore]. You just need a few sheets of 4x8 material, a razor knife, a straight edge, double-stick tape and or Velcro.
OR
Have a sign shop fabricate them. I've seen that they can cut and bend semi-rigid material called Sintra PVC board. (I've had posters mounted on Sintra. It doesn't dent or warp like the paper-foam boards can.) It's light weight and can be heated and bent to shape.

Hi Tim,
I think Tom's idea of the foam core is great, I've heard of a few others doing the same thing.
Just did a google search and found this place for those not wanting to be creative...

Thanks Melody. :) I'll pass that on to the powers that be along w Tom's idea. I am making one like Tom said just to see how hard it is to make, cost of materials and how well it works. Then I'll share all of this w my boss and see what happens.
