Just got off the phone with Melody and she confirmed with a small local store that they received ONE 1Ds Mark III but had 5 people in line for it already.

Still waiting for mine.............. :(

I want to see some production images from the thing. Hopefully in comparison with a 10 or 12 MP camera. I am on a short list to "see" the camera when they get to the "big" store nearby.

Hi Tom,

Wondering if you ever had the chance to do some comparisions or your impression of the 1dsmIII??

I've got one arriving tomorrow, I really think the D3 based on the reviews regarding mirror lock up (I hate it being in the menu) auto iso etc. would have been my choice. I'm trying this strickly due to the file size only as it will make it easier for some of my displays which are 30x40's and larger.

Melody,

Nope. That short list was 5 people when I got on. It has gotten down to 4 last I heard. I have not seen the camera, nor heard much about how 21mp looks.

Thanks Tom, I would have valued your opinion as always. It arrived about 30 minutes ago, the battery is charging now. I'll play with it a bit this afternoon in the studio to see what I think for my purposes.

40 minutes is plenty of charge, if not charged already. Lithium Ion battery, don't matter, go shoot now!

Didn't even try it out until about noon today, I was busy working at the office yesterday. I went home and fell asleep by 6pm! Ok so I woke up at 8:30pm and said nah I'll try it tomorrow.

Even had to do a quick rush test of a couple today as I'm finishing up paperwork to go to the cpa with income tax stuff.

It's quite a camera still playing :) I'll shoot more late tonight, once Melissa and I are done with our appointments. I love the studio in that I can shoot anytime:getdown:

ok and for anyone who wants to see it here is a 100% crop. Granted I definitely need to play with the camera a bit more this was only the 10th image I took with it, and it was on the 2nd lens and 2nd backdrop  I will get better!
