I am looking for a card Reader and Writer ExpressCard for my new MacBook. I need the PCI card that can read Compact Flash cards. All I find available is small card readers for smart media and secure media.
If that's not available, I may have to consider a FireWire card reader.

I think you mean a PCMCIA card reader, not PCI. :)
Take a look at this: http://www.delkin.com/products/adapters/cardbus/
Make sure whatever you get is a Cardbus (32 bit), not 16 bit card as the cardbus ones are around 4 times faster.
I use a Lexar firewire reader myself which is more than twice as fast as all of my USB2 readers.

Thanks Swampy,
That's what I have for my older G4 Powerbook. For the Macbook Pro, the opening is 1/3 smaller and there is a special PCI card and PCMCI is not supported anymore. IThanks to your reply, I found the one I needed. This is it!

Swampy, even when you are wrong, you are right! Thanks to you, I found it!

Ahh, cool. When I see people talk about PCI and laptops, they usually mean PCMCIA. :)

I have a MacBook as well. When they came out, there was hardly anything that fit the express34 slot, which replaced the previous models' PCMCIA slots. Apparently, now there are some things to fit the express slot. Thanks for the link Gil.

FYI Update.
I ordered it from the link above. It will ship in two weeks. They are in slow production.

PCMCIA is so 90's, PCI-X is now, and all the MacBooks have ExpressCard/34 slots.

I can never remember the pcmcia lettering... I get it wrong almost all the time. That's why I bought a macbook pro, now I have carbus 34.
