HI all,

I am looking to get some extra storage space for my photo's and wondered if anybody has any favourite systems. I need firewire 400 to connect up to my mac and need mirrored raid so that I don't lose any work. Something in the region of 1TB of storage to start with would be good so that would give me half of that for strorage with mirrored raid.

I picked one of these up for $400 at Frys. You can also buy it directly from the Maxtor website.

I don't use it in RAID mode, just as a big fast external HD. It has FW800 too and that's what I use on all my drives, PC and Mac.

Can't quite see how it can be set as a Raid system with just one disk or have I read it wrong?

Oh it's a single unit that appears as 1 drive if you plug it in. But actually it has 2 physical 500 gig disks inside it.

That's how you can RAID it ...

Thanks Colin. I read the blurb but couldn't see if there were two drives.
