It may supprise you to know that the shooting software does not come as standard in the UK. Fuji have the cheek to ask an extra £130 ($200??) for this software.
I was wondering what the software is like?
Is there are software which will do the same job at a cheaper price?

Depends on how you define "do the same job". If that means "covert RAW to something", there are a bunch of options that include Qimage and Bibble. if you mean "do an identical job" at the quality and flexiblity level, I think the answer is "No". EX is the best option.

Depends on how you define "do the same job." If that means only converting RAW to jpg or TIFF, then Bibble or Qimage works. If you mean "does as good a job", I'm afraid that I have to say that in my view there's nothing as good out there as EX.

Thanks for replying. Do you know anything about the shooting software? The camera control software via firewire.

Only tried it a couple of times Red, but it works fine. You'll need a 4 pin to 4 pin firewire for a lap top, and proberly a 4 pin to 6 pin for a desktop, when you first turn it on , the settings are laid out, you just set your preferences.
There is a newer version to download, (you need the original installed) . it gives you more exposure options and several other things . i think it's on the download section of this forum, (have'nt checked).

If you use Photoshop then it might be better to get the Adobe Raw Plugin for PS7(also works with PS elements) Its cheaper and makes your workflow more efficient. And there's a great tool on www.wildcape.com that's called Photo Companion, wich works great and has a large preview, the largest I've seen.
And last but not least, a very good working batch converter.

Red,
If you want control of the camera then you must use the shooting software provided by Fuji as part of the HyperUtility software.
If it is RAW file processing then there are several softwares around that work well.
My favourite is Bibble, but the others all have their strengths.
Thhere are the following:
1. Fuji HyperUtility - Very good rendering but slow and clunky interface.
2. Qimage - OK, very strange user interface until you get used to it. Poor noise control in shadow areas.
3. SharpRAW - Only used this for a short time but it promises good things.
4. Adobe RAW plugin - HmmmVery nice user interface but produces colour artifacts and some other strange behaviours !!
5. Fuji LE Convertor - Ships with camera Ok but limited functionality - Its FREE, so dont knock it !!
It's what ever suits you try and see.
