Conowingo Dam, near Havre De Grace Maryland, on the PA state line has two dozen soaring, fishing and dogfighting juvenile and adult Bald Eagles, At least a dozen Great Blue Herons and some Osprey. US 1 goes right over the dam, the parking area is the last right before the dam, then a hard left at the first road as you're traveling North on Rt. 1.
Shot there Monday, I've sold two, maybe three prints so far this week of one adult perched in a tree.
The Eagles are suprisingly approachable, though I was warned that photographing the dam itself will get you a post-9-11 visit from the local constabulary who were rather thick in the area. A few birds spent lots of time perched in trees on the photogarpher's side of the river, where you could walk under the tree they were perched in, though 50' or so was about the best distance I got for shooting through the branches of a nearby bird.
Locals say the birds will be there until at least January, perhaps February. I got there "late" around 9:30am, and was thinking it'd just be a location scout, but the birds seem to be active almost all day, with perhaps 10-30min breaks where nobody's flying or fishing from time to time.
I don't have anything low-res enough to post here, but if you're in PA, MD or VA, this seems to be the best spot for Baldies.
