Is it safe to use studioflash equipment on the synchronizing terminal? Is this terminal able to withstand huge voltages? Also wondering if it's safe to use a Sunpack Auto Zoom 3600 Thyristor flash (also connected to the sync. terminal)? If not, what options are safe (are there any adapters).
Thanks in advance!

You'd have to measure the voltage across the sync cord to determine what you have to deal with.
There is a solution, the Wein Safe Sync, it comes in several different models. I use the model HSHS which fits into the hotshoe and allows the use of shoe mounted flash and also has a pc terminal. There is also one that plugs into the the pc terminal and your pc cord plugs into it. They sell for about $50.00 US and are well worth it for the peace of mind knowing that you're protected.

Oops, forgot to give you the website.
http://www.weinproducts.com/safesyncs.htm
distributed by www.omegasatter.com where they list them at $69.95 but I bought mine from a local dealer for $54.95 USD.
