... and I am looking at buying a second camera.

At the moment I have the D2X and an S2 (which is going on eBay very shortly).
My current newsletter from Calument is featuring the D2Xs and I wondered if anyone has had a chance to test drive one of these yet and what the current opinion is. I've read a couple of reviews which have done nothing to help me make my mind up, so I thought I'd go to the horse's mouth, so to speak.

At the present, just about all my photography is nature-based and this will always be my first love, but after I start my degree course at university in September, I intend todo quite a lot of portraits, both natural light and in the studio. So I am looking to invest in a camera that will be suitable for these two disciplines.

Any and all ideas welcome. Thank you.

Hi Jacqui,

I don't have the D2x but I have used one and do own a D200 which I found was pretty close in IQ. If your going to be shooting Landscape and studio work have you considered the S3? I think it would out perform the D2x in this area, especially with skin tones.( F1 mode ) And their going for a song at the mo!

It also has far better dynamic range the either Nikon!

With the price of S3 dropping i'd think about one .
Lovely skin tones and available light shots at high ISO 's are better than the D2X's .

Hi Jaqui,

If you have a D2X already I would'nt think buying a D2Xs would be worth it. My understanding is that most of the changes are firmware based and that D2X owner will be able to access these by a firmware upgrade available in the Autumn. There are some hardware changes but not enough to justify the extra cost.
