Although I much prefer to if children are on a white background, beggers cant be choosers, and I shot these ones in the livnig room while the studio is being prepared, and the roller backgrounds arrive etc.

Heres what I come up with ... and of course, all comments and critisisms taken on the chin :)

OK, you asked for it! ... :beat:
There's something wrong with WB, compare ## 1,2 and 3,4. First two look more natural WB'ed to me.
I'm not a big fan of black BG for kids either, but some do look interesting, #4 and 5 probably.
Maybe you could try to make 'em smile? lough? Say something funny, stand on your nead, drop a camera, make them lough! :tongue2:

Steve,

What WB setting do you use on your camera for these studio flash shots?

If you are using studio lights then set it to daylight. You will find it stays a constant colour then. If they are too cold then try the shade setting.
Why not do a CWB on a sheet of A4 white paper in the studio as detailed in the instruction manual.

Yes, Wb can be preset with a white paper (not too white though, cheap paper that hasn't been bleached).

Apart from that, a preset will indeed give you a consequent WB, unlike auto-WB. However: please shoot raw with WB presets, always. Because that way you can do a non-destructive alternation of this WB setting, batchwise.

Customs White Balance, now there is something I am inherintly lazy about .... someone really needs to give me a right slap to get moving on this ....

Thing is, that I shoot RAW, cant this be adjusted during the conversion process?

Cheers in advance.

Yes it can. Why not shoot a piece of paper beforehand and then set the white balance on that then adjust all the rest of the images to that in one go.
It is quicker though to do the CWB before shooting to make post processing easier.
If you want to do it afterwards then stick the camera on daylight for studio work and you will be much closer.

Thanks Andrew for that ... I will try it ... this is all because the proper studio aint quite ready yet and the backgrounds rolls aint arrived yet, but hey ho.

I will try the setting to daylight thing, see what happens.

Barbar: Thank you, the background is actually blue, just shadowed them down to make them look black :help:

So cute! And colors look soft against the dark background!

As for the Batch processing someone above suggested.....I know this can be done in CS2 but does anyone know if it can be done in 7.0? Just curious!?

Hello Tracey,

I think you can make up actions in 7.0 but you will need teh ACR plug in to convert the raw files.
