Well and for the Canon 1dmII, OK I'll admit it I'm at work and I don't have the manuals with me and while I looked at the canon one online I haven't found the answer.

Heading out with Ron tomorrow and with the S2 (uh which I've just lent out to a friend) I can use the cable release, however with both the d2x and the 1dmII I can't nothing there to screw the cable release into so what do you do?

I guess I could just use the self timer but I wanted to have more options/control if possible.

Since I don't have the book and I'm saying PRETTY PLEASE would someone just tell me? :D :D

btw yes I've got a set of pocket wizards however I just know how to use those for my lights, is there a way to do a cable or something to make that work? HEY don't laugh it's just an idea :dunce:

well I did find one book here at the office but it's in SPANISH!! do you know how many years ago I took spanish?!

   Jim you are absolutely wonderful Thank you!!!

Just got off the phone with Ron too, he said since both of these have mirror lock up I really won't need it but you know I have to pass numerous camera stores on the way anyhow ;)

Gosh I'm gonna have fun learning something new! I wish you and Sandee were out here and could join us!

Here's two from Canon for the 1D/10,20,30D stuff:

The more expensive one with time lapse settings and what not:

And the Connie and I both have one of these standard ones:

Don't know what you mean by they both have mirror lockup. Mirror lockup will only do you any good if you use the selftimer or the cable release like the two above.

Thanks for the info on the Canon as well Bryan.

Sorry for the confusion, Ron uses a cable release on the S2 and I've used it on that as well. Then I told him I can't use those on the D2x or the 1dmII. So when I was searching I did call him and let him know that they did have mirror lock up though and would that with the self timer function alone work well enough for me while I was learning? He said it would, you see I did remember the S2 didn't have the mirror lock up ;) HEY I'm proud when I remember much at all about the various camera differences especially when it's aspects I don't utilize!

I can stop by Samy's or Calumet on the way down today though, figures I was at Samy's in OC yesterday afternoon

It's too bad you can't join Ron and I either, if something changes and you can just let us know!
