Hi,
I have a question for you, please. I want to buy a laptop but I can’t check to see the differences between the Mac or XP operation systems. I use a Windows XP on my P4. The question is: What laptop is best to buy Apple with Mac or different brands with Windows XP? Mac or XP? Please help me :help: .
Thank you,
Chris

The answer is "It depends." I think a lot depends on what you need to do, what you're familiar with and how you're able to deal with threats to the platform.

Macs don't currently have the virus/spyware issues that Windows has. The OS has color managment all the way through it- I think MS has been promising that since Me, but hasn't yet delivered. On the whole, Windows hardware is cheaper if you go to the low end, but if you add in similar software things tend to about even out.

The new Macbook line is supposed to be fast, otherwise, Windows systems on the high-end have traditionally had an edge. There's not as much 3rd party software for Macs, but I tend to be able to find what I need.

I much prefer the Mac platform over Windows, if I get a generic x86 system, I tend to load either Linux or one of the BSDs on it.

From personal experience if you get a mac, you won't be disappointed.

The laptop displays can be a little dim in bright sunlight, but on the other hand an ibook is really tough and light.

If you already have PC software then I would stay with PC as getting a Mac will cost you in the way of new or cross graded software. There has been acompetition running to see if someone can get Windows XP to run on a new Intel Mac. Apparently someone has managed to and if tru then you wouldn't have to worry. You could have the elegance and build quality of a Mac and the use of your windows programs all on the one machine.

Go for Intel Mac
