Hi Folks,
I have the S2, a Lacie Monitor and the Epson 2200. I have been using this combo for a while and the prints I get are OK but I am tired of wasting ink and paper when the prints don't come out like what i see on the screen.
What software does everyone use? I am looking to spend around $400 Cdn.
Cheers,
Wayne

HI There Wayne,
I use a Spyder Pro 2 to adjust the monitor. I have found that the 220(2100 here in the UK) produces rather magenta prints from what I see on screen. I have downloaded several profiles from various sites but none of them are very good. As I send most of my images away to be printed I leave the screen as it is but if I am printing a lot of inkjets then I adjust the screen manually to match the printer.
Pantone have just brought out a printer profiling system which is a midway point from Am to Pro. I might go down that route.

Hey, Wayne. I have a LaCie electron19blueIV monitor and use the Blue Eye II calibration unit and software from LaCie. Top notch if you ask me. Check out the LaCie website.

Thanks Ron I have the same monitor and your reco looks great. I am kind of new at this so I am trying to figure out how you calibrate your montior and printer to what you see is what you get. Is this done through the Blue Eye 2?
Thanks,
Wayne

I'm not sure about the printer as I have my prints done at a lab (Linda G's) and any that I print at home are just for the heck of it. Although they do come out nice for just a cheapo printer.
I don't really think you'll ever get an exact WYSISWG due to the fact that the monitor acts like a backlight for an image? Just my 2 cents.

With the printer you have you should be able to get some great prints. Have you asked Melody? I think she has the same printer?

Sorry I've got two epson 9600's (44inch) printers.
Yes I can definitely get exactly what my monitor shows, it's a fairly pricey LED monitor and I use Spectraview II calibration software. Everything is in the wider gamut of RGB. The monitor is touted as being superior then the CRT's while I couldn't say all I know is I absolutely love it. Here's my monitor and at 109%, it sees more color then most http://www.digitalvideoediting.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=33128-1
I haven't used the spyder pro for over a year sorry I couldn't say I only tried it once and it's back in the box. The calibration I have is specifically for my monitor and was done by Greg M.
As mentioned the profiles are as important as anything, I got several free by Bill Atkinson they are on the epson site however he as even more on his own site, downloads for PC and MAC.
