Does anyone know, if the software supplied with Fuji S2 includes some facility for batch processing raw files ?

And if so, is it provided for Macintosh OS as well as for Windows ?

We started using an Olympus E-10 18 months ago, - for the narrow purpose we use it the E-10 is an excellent camera, but converting up to 200 raw ORF-files pr. day , one-by-one via the 16-bit PhotoShop plug-in on our Mac's is a pain..!

Thanks for any reply...

Yes, RAW FILE CONVERTER LE with S2Pro and RAW FILE CONVERTER EX with Hyper-Utility Software have
batch processing facility.

And I can use them on MacOS9. (MacOS X is not supported)

I just got around to installing the software for my S2. What is the difference between the RAW FILE CONVERTER LE with S2Pro and RAW FILE CONVERTER EX with Hyper-Utility? The EX version looks like it has more features, although I'll have to read to see how to use them. Basically, I guess my question is, "Why do we have two versions? And is there anything on the FinePix S2 Pro CD that I need?" As far as I can tell, everything I need is on the Hyper-Utility Software CD. Comments?

I have just started using the FINEPIX VIEWER and haven't found a way to rotate my vertical files for easy viewing. I can rotate them in Photoshop, but it would be much easier to have them right-side up in the FINEPIX VIEWER for editing.

Thanks!

Hi SSonnentag,

The 'LE' (lite) version of the converter doesn't allow you to modify any of the in-camera settings and TIFF files to 8bit level only. Whereas you can adjust all the settings and more with the 'EX' version. So since you have it, you might as well just install the Hyper-utility with the 'EX' version. Unfortunately outside of the U.S. and Canada (as I am), we only get the 'LE' version with the camera - the 'EX' version is an optional extra (£129-99 ~ US$200). The other part of the Hyper-utility CD is tethered camera operation allowing direct storing of images to hard disk using the fire-wire connection. This might be useful in a studio situation in certain instances.

So the short answer is you don't need to install both. :-) You might also be aware that the excellent QI Pro now has 'S2' RAW (RAF) support. Apparently this gives more accurate colour matching than the Fuji converter and is supposedly quicker. Also, if you want to print from your computer as well it may be a useful alternative.
