I was inspired by Melodys work to buy myself a roll of white background paper and try out some High Key shots. Hope yours are going well Melody. Its not easy is it!! :)
I roped all the family into modelling - ie me , my wife Elizabeth and Bronwen the Cat!!
I'm pleased but I need to work more on the technique - PS has helped with a few shots!

Keith,
For your first attempt at high-key, you've done very well. It looks like you're getting a little bit of light bouncing back from the bakground resulting in a bit of halation. You may want to try reducing your background light a bit.

Woohoo I've never inspired anything I'm aware of
No it's not easy, but we knew that, it's the hardest from what I've read to light correctly, but we'll get it then all else should be a piece of cake right?? ;) Your ahead of me you've got a live models there!!
I decided today to further confuse myself and make it a bit more difficult to add plexiglass to the 'floor' area of the backdrop.....yes only a blonde can take difficult and decide to make it worse, let's get some flare from the white floor and magnify it but ya know I rather liked the first attempt this afternoon hehee!!
I'm trying to catch up with the list, thanks for thinking of me I shall return and share what all it is I have no clue about yet but I have TONS of questions!

Keith, Your so far ahead of me, do you mind if I take your images in sections and ask questions. I would only do it so I can learn what is desired and how to get it? If you do mind I'll completely understand.

Mark,
D2X - Nikon 35-70 2.8 and 85 1.8. 4 Bowens Esprits (2x 500 & 2x 250) with a large Wafer as the Main light and a small softbox as fill. 2 lights on Background with umbrellas.
As Charlie has said there is some flare from the background so i need to give that some thought for the next try.
thanks for your comments.

Thanks Charlie,
yes I think I need to tone down the background a little!

Here's a suggestion Keith. Set your model up with no lights at all. Take a step back to your shooting position and look at the available light. Look at how the shadows fall on your models face. Where do the shadows fall? Where does the available light originate from?
Next set up ONE light, and do the above again. Look at how its changed the light falling onto your model. Can you position the light so it compliments the available light? Is it possible to use a simple reflector with the available light and one flash light to create a nice fall of light?
A lot of people don't ACTUALLY look at the light and how it is falling. Do you need 4 lights at this stage? Take some shots using one, maybe two tops. Look at your results, move the lights a little, play with your camera settings.
It can be, and believe me I did it myself, a case of calling in the whole of the army to do a job, when in reality, a single well trained and armed soldier would have done the job just as well in the same time.
Hope this helps some.
Cheers,
Mark
