 Ok...here is how it went...

Went to Dads to try firewire AGAIN...had 2 shots in RAW...made sure converter was loaded on his PC(Win XP) Hooked up camera and turned it on....

NOthing...tried it again....NOthing

3rd try it worked, so we tried to convert RAW. EVERYTHING Froze! I unpluged my camera, but it wouldnt turn off...it still said it was downloading...it WOULDnt turn off at all.

I took the batteries out and put them back in. Then all it would do was give me err...and it said Card Not Initialized...tooK all batteries out and same thing.

I got upset, called Fuji and stayed on hold a few minutes when my dad told me to just go buy a new card and "lets see" (Both of us thinking it wouldnt work)

I went to wal-mart and bought a new disk....Praise the LORD!...it worked fine!! I am still a little upset...that should not have happened... I dont know if I'll ever use firewire again!

Any idea what's up? Andi

it could just be that your 1st card was converting RAW FILES to TIF , it does take time, especially if it converts back to the C/F card, as i found out. i download to harddrive now.
If it was converting, by taking out the batteries during it, it could have corrupted the C/F, try reformating it in camera.
there a thread in ''memory'' about this subject, can,t remember where, but it was'nt that long ago, hope this helps.

...and the lamebrain Fuji converter software points the huge raw conversion files to write to drive your files are on by default. You have to be careful to specify a drive on the computer and the application won't recall your choice once you shut it down. That's why I always copy over all the files before doing any conversions.

I find it's much nicer just to use a firewire cardreader and not hassle with using the camera for file transfers. Power is always a looming issue when you hook up the camera. Even when using an AC adapter, the 123 cells will drain unless you remove them. My firewire reader is faster than the camera's firewire connection. A USB2 reader would be another good option.

Thanks...I didnt know they had cf firewire connected readers! I went out and bought USB for mine plus one for my Dads(He's got a HUGE harddrive and roadrunner connection. I'll do all my uploading from his PC) Only when there are no choices left will I EVER plug my camera into the PC again. Scared the heck out of me!!!

This is only my 3rd day with the S2...guess I'm working out all the problems to begin with! A CF card got deleted yesterday ..."digital image resue" brought them back!!

Have a Blessed Weekend!!

Andi;)

Hiya -
I had the same problem with mine - except it was fried - similar symptoms - it happened 6 weeks after getting the camera (and about 6000 images - oops) - the whole board was replaced on it and is now working like a little dream - I also use it with the shooting software in my studio via firewire and its damned fine :)
Hope yours is workinf out.

Best wishes
