I'm taking my 1dmII to Canon for evaluation and repair today. It's had an issue with tremendous noise for months I should have taken it earlier I just quit using it and went to the D2x. Here's an example of 1600 iso however it's got problems even at 400 iso outside as well.

Frustrating part is sometimes it's better then others even on the same 'run' of horses however it's still no where close to what I should be getting....both pictures were at 1600 iso and 2.8 there could also be an issue with the focusing on it as in a series it will go on and off while I'm panning a horse. I've shot so many of them in a series now I thankfully realize it's not 'me'.

Well it's a Canon now. Service dept very friendly and polite. Est time 1.5 weeks current turn time. I am definitely partial to Nikons 24-72 hours though LOL. I'm assuming this isn't an uncommon problem as the guy at the desk wasn't the least shocked and said he'd seen it be a digital board issue and they just replace it. I'll follow up when I get it back.

Well Canon just called my camera is ready for pick up didn't say what they did to it. Took just under a week nice to be ready early rather then late, now if my noise issue is just gone :) I'll get it later this week or next I've got some orders to get out.

Hi Tim,
Nope Dewey loves me, get a hug and kiss everytime I see him why?
Or do you mean is it possible that I'm getting residue or something on my lens?

No, I mean it looks like his gun is pointed right at you as you took the first picture. Guns are loud--maybe source of noise?
Sorry Melody, you remeber the lame thing I use in place of a sence of humor! :troutsmac

You'll never recover the high end hearing, please get some- pay for the good rubber kind or the electronic ones if you really want to be able to hear voices.

Thanks for the concern Paul, my husband teases or gets frustrated with me now saying I've got ears like an elephant and hear things I'm not supposed to! But ya know if I didn't listen look at all the gossip I'd miss  I get in his truck even and say well I don't know what it is but it's making a funny sound can't you hear that!?!

Hmmm...well let's see how to put this delicately cause Bryan and I agree on somethings and not on others eventually we might or agree to disagree one.
Ok do you want the long answer of what and why I have both Canon and Nikon or do you just want the short version?
I can send the long later if you like, short answer, in my opinion I was disappointed, Bryan felt after the repair it did better then his camera of the same model the only difference in the two was mine had a firmware upgrade.

I made the switch from an S2 Pro to Canon. Feel free to ask any questions!
I am happy that I made the right choice - I was looking for much faster and more accurate focussing in the 300mm+ lens range, and I got it.

Back in here ... loving the speed of focus .. its almost instant on the lens and so quiet .... such a difference from using the Fuji kit ... but I am still undecided upon the S3 for studio ... I think its a very difficult cam to beat in those conditions ??? Opinions ??
Melody, so you use strictly Canon and Nikon in studio now ???

Strickly? I use the D2x, 1dmII and the S2pro.
Over 90% of the time in the studio I use the D2x if that's what your asking.

So ... if the world was going to explode and you could take ONE camera with you ... would it be your Nikon or Canon ???

 Ok but you better have left room for lots of other stuff as they really aren't my prized possessions or anything
It's easy for me the D2x.
Oh and if the new 1DSmIII doesn't have the ability to crop in camera to a 1.5 or a 1.3 and a decent fps speed, I'll take the D3x in the future too.
