Has any member here ever used this battery pack? It's compatable with S2 Pro / 5V 3600 mA
if so, how is it, in Bangkok the price is around 60 US $

I have no idea 'cause I've changed my mind to MB16 which is more practical.

If your not going to use your on camera flash, do you even need to instal batteries in the mb-16.
Without the mb-16 installed will your other 4 aa's drain faster?
Thanks

Yes, you need to load batteries into the MB-16 even if you don't use the built-in flash. The MB-16 replaces the CR123's and provides the power to autofocus and a few other functions which are pretty important to the overall operation of the S2.
Without either the CR123's or a loaded MB-16 with batteries, your regular AA's will drain very quickly.

I own two S2 Pro's and have purchased one of these Samsung packs for each of them. Compared to the Nikon MB16, the Samsung isn't the prettiest - bright silver and 'curly' lead - but it does the job very well indeed. Personally, I use the cradle and mount the battery pack via the tripod screw but it comes with a leatherette pouch that can clip onto a belt, shirt pocket and even a tripod.
Performance is excellent. I photograph motor racing events and have filled a 1GB MicroDrive (340 images at 6 Megapixal) two days in a row, without recharging and using auto focus practically all the time.
If you want to use the onboard flash, you will need to have CR-123's installed - but normally I'd use an external 'Speedlight'.
You can check it out at http://www.digital-cameras.com/Camera_Accessories-6_sc/Batteries-31/Samsung_Universal_Digimax_Batt_Pack_5V-977.html
Ignore the fact that the S1 and S2 are not metioned in the compatability chart - there is printed proof inside the box that states this SBP-3605 works with both S1 and S2.
It's the best 50 quid I've spent.
