Hi,

I am looking at purchasing an optical slave that would work well with the S2 and on which I could mount a Sb-28DX.

I found this one (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=263024&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation). Would it be an overkill?

thanks all

Stephan

Stephan,

it depends on what you are looking for. 150' range isn't that bad, but also not the bummer for 70$. I have to fire my slaves anywhere, so tell us, where you would like to use the slave ? Lowlight, studio, ....

This will help us figuring out which sync-unit would fit your needs without these costs.

Hi Wilm,

i would fire them in a church/studio environment.
Do you think that this sort of slave would do the trick?

thanks

Stephan,
quite difficult to answer your question. A church usually didn't has much abient light, so a simple slave-sync for some bucks would do the job. To get some neat effects there is the need for a highly sensitive slave-sync unit. I don't know where to buy from, I've just ordered one unit from the UK. As soon as I have some results from that unit. I'll let you know.

A studio is something different! As far as I know much light in it. Try to get some answers from our members which are working in studios. My studios are usually caves or old mines, so there is no ambient light. Slave synchonisation is simple down there.

Hope I don't have confused you too much ;)
