These Photos where made with the SIGMA, which is now replaced by the 12-24. It#s in my opinion the only real alternative to the Nikon, which I changed only because of a veeerrryyyy good price offer.

ISO 100 - f3,5 - 1/20 - Matrix in Program Mode - 15 mm

This photo shows nearly no distortion

This one is from the long end - sorry for the slight falling to the right...

Hi Peter

Was flare a major problem for you since this lens has such a large front element?

And this one is also with 15 mm - but it shows a clear distorsion. To be honest: I do not know why this one has and the other one has not...

Hello Roel,

as you know, the baby is made for the full frame, so normally you would have the problem with the nearly useless Hood. But accidently the additional tube on the hood - which gives you the possibility to place a real cap on it (and also allows an 82 mm filter) - resolves the problem in a good way. In this way, I had no problem with flare or ghosting.

Regards

Peter

Hi Peter,

I had read about flare being a problem with this lens - I have also been dubious about Sigma glass too (since I was a diehard Nikon bigot for a while) but your shots with this lens are great. I can't see much distortion and the colour is quite pleasing.

This lens is much better than I thought it was (lesson to be learned: don't just read the reviews, actually try the lens!). And the most important point: you are an excellent photographer!

Keep shooting!

Not on an S2 but I also have this lens and on Full Frame Film (F100) it's pretty sharp edge to edge. Only a slight hint of softness, depending on aperture.
