Had a quick trip to Glencoe a few weeks ago. Took a few pictures, but nothing looked very interesting. Converting to b&w and some dodging and burning in Photoshop gave me this, which I was really happy with.

Dennis,

That is magnificent - good composition and tonal range. As you say sometimes a good conversion to BW can make all the difference. Takes me back to the late 70''s early 80's when I lived in Perth. Beautiful country.

You composed this shot very well. Makes you want to hang this shot on the wall and turn the TV off for the night so you can let the picture carry you away.

Lovely shot - especially in B&W. Is that the Pap?

Many thanks to you all for the encouraging comments. Yes Bob, that is the Pap of Glencoe, and Yes, Brian, the area hasn't changed too much, thankfully.

As I said, the original picture was not very impressive, and probably shows I need to take more care with exposure and use of a grey grad filter.

Having seen the effect of dodging and burning on the b&w image, I tried similar techniques on the colour one. I think I like the B&W one best though.

Thanks again to all who replied
