Many of us have/had the autofocus 105/2.8 lens, which is no doubt among the best macro lenses Nikon ever produced.
How about it's "father", the manual focus AIS 105/2.8 ?
I'd say "not bad" for the old timer :)
Three test shots with D2x at f/16-22, 1/200, ISO140, plus two 1:1 crops.
Later will post a shoot-out comparison between these two "relatives" :)

And digital makes using AIS lenses easy. You either guess the exposure or use a hand held meter, and then adjust from there after looking at the picture and histogram. Anybody remember the Sunny/16 rule?
