I got my camera only today so i have just begun collecting imagery showing the pros and cons of my lenses - as first strike i will post a con for this lens for some people.
It's too bad (for me) - this lens is NOT suitable for Near Infrared Photography. The dreaded CenterSpot will occur with this one.
(Normal color imagery coming up!;-))

Hi scooper,
i just don't know enough about how the lenses are built internally so i can't give a clear explanation why some show the center spot and some don't - i have been told to "watch out" for some lenses are not capable of doing NIR ... i guess i have to learn the hard way - buy&grrr ;-))
This may have to do with a combination of what coating the lens boasts and the cutfilter sitting on the ccd - i don't have a problem with the Macro Nikkor 105 2.8 except for it being 4 stops less than what the 50 delivers ...
Btw. the filter used for this test shot was a "mild" Heliopan 695 - as soon as i have time to spend some full days with the cam i will get to the "deep" filters as well, but i guess i'll be out of luck there.
If you are interested in NIR shooting contact me offlist or you could start a thread in the general area.
regards,
lX
