error message out of range on white balance

Past 3 months custom wb setting worked fine, now we get an error that isnt over or under but the out of range, how can a brides white dress in the shade suddenly be out of range?

Don't know for sure, because I never saw that error, but the color temperature of deep shade is probably the highest of anything you'd ever shoot in. Still, I would have thought that the white balance setting would "work" but the results might look too blue.

Did some checking in the manual and with my S2, and it does look like deep shade has a color temperature of about 9600 or 9700k, which is out of the range the manual gives for custom white balance setting.

If you shoot in RAW, you can manually set the color temperature, and that may be the best answer for those situations where you have that out-of-range condition.
