What is with all these nature shots of birds and flowere? Here is a post of a mighty good animal. A cow (brisket), soaked in Dr. Pepper, rubbed with garlic and Boars Breath and cooked all night in a wood smoker. Now that is not only pretty but it also tastes great too.

DOF is poor on this photo. When taking photo's of food, one must remember to be sharp throughout the subject. When you're looking at food shots, you're looking as if you're going to eat the whole thing, there for, you'll want to have to whole subject in focus. Composition wasn't very good either. Possibly adding more foil to the background to hide the wall and making sure you get the whole knife in the shot would have been crucial to the proper composition here I think. Also, maybe drizzle a little of the au ju on the exposed meat to make it look more juicy, and in turn, more tasty.

Hope this helps your new hobby Wayne. :D And Hope you know I'm just messin' with ya.

A snap is a picture that is not going to used for much and so you don't really put a lot into it. I was taking it to post on a BBQ newsgroup and most of those guys would have been drunk by the time they read it. My grandkids were also yelling at grandpa to stop messing with the camera and slice the roast, they were hungry. I would have also been really dissapointed if somebody had not pointed out the bad DOF and composition. I have been a BBQ freak for a lot of years now. In fact I have just about as many BBQ pits and grills as I have cameras. And yes, it was tender and juicy good with a 1/2 inch smoke ring.

This is a horrible job, bad lighting and setting, what were you thinking when you set this shot up? Arrrgh!
I would like to help you, send me a brisket just like this one and I'll show you how it should be done correctly!

p.s.- please send some BBQ sauce, napkins, and cold beer so I complete the effect!;)

Swampy, maybe when you mention being a DP fan in the future, you should specify Doctor Pepper. Well, just kidding, but I almost lost some of my own Dr. Pepper out my nose when I read that. For those who do not understand what I mean, I will not explain.

Just wait till duck season starts. I am hoping on getting some good pics of some waterfowl in the wild! I need to get me a 100mm lens so I can get some good close up shots. Waterfowl is really what I want to specialize in hopefully one of these days.
