Yeah I feel like a widow my laptop acts dead at times! It's just a bit over a year old and I paid a good price for it from Alienware...long story however I'm now "shopping" so to speak. I definitely like whoever did the marketing for this widow PC place, has anyone here had any experience or heard anything bad about quality or service?

I certainly like their options and the ability to upgrade aspects of it later which appears easier then others.

Thanks!

You're likely getting the same hardware Alien uses with widowpc- Clevo (www.clevo.com.tw)- so your experience isn't likely to be different outside of customer service and price.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clevo

Lists a few more resellers.

A year ago I purchased an HP with a 2.6 mHz Pentium 4 and I have been more than happy. I have maxed it out on RAM and added a 100 GB hard disk and it does the job fine. Before I purchased it I asked the CompUSA tech service guy that manages our work network and computers and he told me that HP laptops are the least returned for repair of all brands. He said that Sony was also good but over priced, and Toshiba was the worst. He also told me to get the 3 year warrenty and it would cover anything but broken plastic. I listened to him and have never regreted it.

We also use Dell Latitude computers at work. We are on our third generation and they also have really served us well. The Dell monitors and docking stations are not so good but their Latitude Laptops are great.

My son also gets great service out of his iBook from Apple. What a nice little machine that is. We also bought him a G5 Mac Desktop for his birthday and that is one really fine machine. I would easily recommend it to anybody.

I went with the HP ZD8000 with a few extra bells and whistles, including the 17" wide screen bright view whatever. I love it.

I "built" my Dell XPS machine from help received here. 3.4 GHrz Pentium 4 hyper threading, 2 gig RAM, two SATA HD's, fast video card, yadda, yadda. Came with XP pro. I have not had a single problem with it other than a virus that was due to user error. It's fast and dependable. Everything I've downloaded to upgrade drivers, programs, etc. loads fast and automatically. I already had a pro 21" monitor but added a flat panel for CS tools. Its pretty sweet for an off the shelf unit.
