Despite its latin name, the red squirrel is far from common here in the UK, having been replaced by Sciurus carolinensis, its grey cousin from the states.
Andy and I have both been to Formby near Liverpool this week on separate trips to photograph these.

yes, intimate lighting too. Great colors.
Could you lighten his back up a bit to separate it from the shadow behind him?

while i understand the need. the copyright gets i nthe way of the photo. very rich colors.

Nice shot showing depth John. Looks like these have tuffs of hair at the top of his ears, a little different from those here. :)

Nice shot John ! Here too, -in towns at least- the squirrel, be it red or grey, got replaced by the chipmonks !!! I don't know where they came from, but they are all over the public parks...
