Since Fuji only specifically mentions the Microdrives in their manuals, there's really nothing to go from. However, most manufacturers will certify their cards on certain cameras. For example, I know that Viking tests their cards and certifies them, and I know that all of their cards work on the S2.
I personally bought a 512MB Ridata card from http://www.powerinnumbers.com.au for about $200. Very fast performer and even though the store is in Australia, the service and delivery time are both excellent. If you search over at dpreview.com you will see a lot of people talking about this card and the dealer.
Also, take a look at this thread:

This is from a Fuji owner at dpreview.com that compiled a list from other S2 owners about their CF experiences.
Good luck,
Teski

I was searching for a Ridata 512mb CompactFlash Card after reading the review it got on dpreview.com... wow! However, I have yet to receive the card (2 weeks) The shop I ordered from has not resonded to my emails... I dont know if they are sitting on my money (and card) or they never got my order.. oh well, I will cancel the card and order from somewhere else...
I have a 128mb Kingston Flash Card that will work in a Nikon 880, but not in the S2... darn!

Have you tried reformatting it in the camera?

Matt

I formatted it on both the camera and the computer.. but no luck! I have read other posts about the Kingston 128mb card not working on the S2...

Sorry to hear about your issues with your Ridata supplier. I'm assuming it's either from mydigitaldiscount.com or mypcmax.com as they are the other two companies that I know of that sell these. I personally would call my credit card company, dispute the charge, and then order from powerinnumbers.com.au as Vasa is super reliable even though he's in Australia (I'm in Washington State).

Teski,
I called mypcmax.. they searched their database and said that the sale never went through. The rep was extremely helpful and appologized for any inconvience... so I re-ordered the card from them...
Thanks for the help!

Glad to hear that you got things worked out! The Ridata card is a solid performer in the S2. Enjoy!

I had the same trouble when I purchased my S2. A switch to a different brand solved the problem. I was in the store when this happened so the switch was done by the clerk selling me tha card and camera as a unit so there was no problem. I would recommend taking the camera to the store, or using their demo S2, when you purchase the card and make them show you that it works.
