Well I photographed my first wedding yesterday. All in all it went pretty good except for the nerves being shot! Here is one of the 189 pictures I shot. I will post more later. Any feedback would be appreciated.

As a ordinary kind of viewer the necklace looks fine to me. But to alter it without underexposing the rest of the pic. you would have to use P.S and do a cut out and then adjust it. just to be picky , that white blob by his nose caught my eye , a cloning job, maybe? .You really need feedback from one of the pro wedding / portrait photographers out there.

Love the hands pic , it's the kind of different wedding picture this couple will love to look back on later. great sharpness , hand held or tripod?. exposure is nicely balanced between hands and cloth, what metering did you use?

I see your first instints as a police officer were to go for the hands
bet you even had a pair of cuffs in your camera case. (sorry just my wacky sense of humour).

Happy shooting (in your case with a camera)

On the hands pic I used program mode with ttl and stroboframe. This picture was handheld and it was taken outside.

I see what you are talking about the white blob by the nose. I spent 10 hours yesterday resizing and fixing some things in photoshop. I missed this and glad you pointed it out. I did not do anything except resizing on the hands pic.

I appreciate your comments and no I didn't have any cuffs. I forgot them on my belt. LOL

As a truckker i've had more than my fair share of coppers, so it's nice to be able to advise them sometimes.
I've resized your pic, getting rid of distracting pieces blurred the background and sharpened the couple, i took 3 minutes to do it roughly to show how i'd like it, so it's very ,very , crude. but if you take your time you could do it a 100 times better.
Sorry if you don't like it, but it's only my opinion ,so it don't count for much. there nothing wrong with the original , just thought it could do with this tweak.
After being given a £60 parking ticket while waiting to go into a building site today. i thought i'd hit back.

Hope i have'nt offended you by the alteration

I appreciate the advice you are giving me. You are not offending me with the jokes. I get those everyday of the week. I need to work on these photos in photoshop more and learn how to use photoshop more. I bought a book called photoshop artistry and I am reading it now. I should be able to pick up a few tips from it.

Again I appreciate the constructive critisism. I take it very well and learn from my mistakes.

Thanks,
Larry

Hi Guys,

Well, let me jump in!

First, it is definitely a nice shot - good show. I am very sure you customers will like it :-)

Most of the corrections that were made above could probably have been done in-camera if you had been able to shoot at a wide aperture. I am not sure which lens you are using, but at 1.8 on a 50mm you probably would have gotten that short depth of field for 'free'. Also, photoshopping can be very obvious.

If you put an adjustment layer on, then use the Gaussian blur and then cut out the people, you should get a similar effect to the wide aperture, though.

Cheers,

Q

I have a 1.8 50 mm and I didn't use it. I used G 28-80 mm. I knew I should have used the 50 mm it is more crisp. Thanks for your comments.

Thanks Larry for not being too mad at me for the adjustments, i thought as a fellow amateur and not a full pro my comments would have more meaning, i've done many weddings of family and from that, friends, and i learned with each one . D.O.F. is one of the commonist mistakes to make. and it's easy to forget F stops in the stress of the day.
All the rest ,the lighting, composition ,and metering will become much easier with practise, judging by pic of the hands (which i still love), your the best part there.

Had my ticket quashed today, so i'm mellowing towards coppers.

KC stands for Kanas city, whats the M.O stand for.

To Quill ,i agree photoshop if badly done can be obvious, but so can all types of post proccesing. and i've had my share of badly exposed prints back from labs.

Happy shooting
